Good Gifts

God is a God of good gifts. Gifts beyond what we can imagine. But what if sometimes that gift is relieving someone else's burden?

What if it's the random text you sent only to receive the response that it was just the encouragement someone needed during a hard time?

What if it's getting to be Jesus to someone by carrying even the lightest weight of their burden?

What if it's unexpected affirmation from someone or small answers to prayer for them?

What if it's sitting on a couch with a friend and discussing the faith journey of someone they love--a stranger to you?

What if it's getting to walk alongside someone in community for a moment or for many in the good times, the bad, or all the times in between?

What if it's the opportunities created in the small moments of life that so often pass us by and even the ability to recognize those moments?

What if it's doors being closed when you weren't sure whether to step through?

What if it's a known, joyful, captivating thought stealing your attention in the midst of a negative thought spiral?

What if it's all the times a passing thought, a small piece of effort, or a seemingly arbitrary positioning entered you into someone else's story to be a blessing?

We all want the spouse, the pregnancy, the job, the opportunity, the big desire, and it is good to want those. Good to trust Him for our desires, knowing He cares about us and He gives good gifts.

But the goodness of those gifts are not limited to the big moments. He is faithful to sustain us, faithful to bless us, without any noticeable change in our circumstances. He cares for us so tenderly by revealing to us the blessing in what already is or was. By showing us reminders of our blessings or results for actions we didn't realize were blessings.

In the big and the small, in the daily tracks of life, in His every kindness to us, He gives good gifts.
